How to Care for Fresh Cut Ginger Pink Tropical Flowers
Your flower can arrive looking thirsty and droopy. This is Absolutely Normal as tropicals are shipped directly from our network farms. Start by cutting the end of the stem and placing in a clean bucket of water for proper hydration at least 4 hours before arranging. Follow steps below
- Remove your flowers from any packaging and inspect blooms when your box arrives.
- Gather a clean bucket or containers to hold your flowers
- Fill the containers with at least 4 inches of fresh lukewarm water. Flower Food not required but, If using flower food follow the package directions for adding it to the water
- Remove any foliage that would fall below the waterline. Leaves below the waterline may cause bacteria to form shorting the life of your flowers.
- Use sharp flower shears or scissors to cut approximately 1 inch off of each stem diagonally.
- Immediately after cutting the stems, place the flower in the prepared water. Not placing fresh cut flowers in a timely manner will cause the flower veins to close and the flower is unable to properly hydrate.
- Do not overcrowd your containers with flowers.
- Tropical flowers need a warmer environment than most cut blooms. We recommend storing tropical flowers between 65F to 75F.
- Tropical flowers need to be misted 1-2 times a day with room temperature water. We recommend using a squirt bottle.
- Do not refrigerate your tropical flowers. Refrigeration will damage the blooms. Keep them away from direct sunlight, drafts and excessive heat.
- Change your flower water and recut the stem daily or when you start to notice discoloration in the water.
If upon first inspection when your box arrives, you notice a problem with your flowers, do not proceed, take a picture and call us immediately.
